Two's company in Thailand

After our pretty interesting introduction to Thailand last night, after a (somewhat) good rest we were ready to hit the streets and see what Bangkok had to offer.

If I were to sum up Bangkok, Thailand in a few words; they would be 'freaking awesome'. I'd even go as far to say it's kool with a kapital K. However, for all intents and purposes,I will, in a few words, sum up my first impressions of Thai Thai for you.

But as always, a picture is worth more than a thousand words; so enjoy. #sorrynotsorry - this post is photo-heavy, and well deserving of it.

Colour, colour everywhere. Temples, the kindness of the Thai people, their willingness to help and teach, the sacred spaces, the spicy food.

The cheap Singha beers, the exciting nightlife. The ladyboys that pranced past us, the tuk tuk drivers that slept in their hammocks whilst waiting for passengers.

Phra Sumen Fort

The hectic traffic, our weaving tuk tuk drivers, who drive without fear. The roasted bugs for sale on the side streets, the Khao San markets full of colour, atmosphere and the voices of foreigners trying to desperately barter.

The sticky heat, the 30 cent bottles of water we bough in packs of six. The crazy Germans, Englishmen, Frenchmen and Australians we met.

Buddhist temples

The military jeeps rolling through the city, making their presence known. Bartering for tuk tuks, eating enough Phad Thai to last us a lifetime.

Hundreds of people who have left their well-paying-jobs for a life of constant hippie-pants and marijuana.

Swag

Canadian banks and westerners who flock to the city for sex tourism. Banana pancakes are our favourite, and the Thai people are so very small.

Every hour is happy hour; massages and monks are plentiful. The children are wide eyed and happy, never failing to wave or blow kisses to tourists that stroll past.
